About Us

Welcome to Oskar Huber Furniture & Design

History

History

Oskar Huber, Sr. was an artisan who made upholstered furniture, one exceptional piece at a time. Trained in Germany, he emigrated to the United States at the age of 21. He then worked at an upholstery shop in Philadelphia. In 1927, he opened Oskar Huber Furniture on Rising Sun Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia. Our company has evolved and currently has two locations – one in Pennsylvania and one in New Jersey. We are now a 3rd and 4th generation family owned and operated business.

Oskar Huber Furniture was founded on the virtues of exquisite design and quality craftsmanship. In our stores today, you can trust that we have only the finest quality furnishings and home accents; collections curated from skilled artisans scattered across the globe. Our commitment to excellent home furnishings originated with Oskar Sr and remains at the forefront of our philosophy today. His legacy, along with our longstanding knowledge of furniture construction, has honed our eye for quality.

Our Values

Being environmentally responsible. Supporting the community. What’s important to our clients is what’s important to us.

American Made

American Made Furniture

Oskar Huber Sr., who founded the business, was a furniture maker in Philadelphia. We are proud of our heritage and remain committed to supporting American artisans who handcraft upholstered and wood furniture that meet our strict standards of quality. In fact, roughly 70% of all the furniture available at our stores is made in North America.

Presenting products made domestically not only supports American workers and ensures exceptional quality, it also allows for customization not possible with products sourced overseas. We seek out and are experts at working with companies like this to be able to provide you, our client, with pieces you will be proud to have in your home and help to convey your personal style.

Eco Initiatives

Eco Initiatives

Oskar Huber is deeply committed to preserving our environment. We collaborate with skilled craftsmen and companies that are proud members of organizations dedicated to promoting eco-friendly practices. These organizations include the Forest Stewardship Council, Sustainable Forestry Initiative, and the Sustainable Furnishings Council. Consequently, our stores proudly offer a range of environmentally conscious products, such as cushions made from soy-based materials, free from flame retardants, and pillows filled with recycled fibers. Our furniture features recycled metal components and boasts very low VOC finishes.

In our ongoing efforts to minimize environmental impact, we take steps to reduce the carbon footprint of our showrooms. This includes utilizing energy-saving LED lighting, along with carpeting and countertops made from recycled and renewable materials. We are dedicated to recycling materials used in the packaging of your orders, including cardboard and plastics. Additionally, our commitment extends to harnessing solar power as a sustainable energy source. Together, we strive to create a more eco-friendly and sustainable future.
