Twice a year the Oskar Huber buying team travels to High Point Market in North Carolina to discover the latest trends in home fashion and design. Each season we return from market revitalized with newfound inspiration and are anxious to share our favorite Market highlights. A mix of organic forms and sleek lines paired with some surprising patterns and neutral tones offered our team new inspiration for the coming months.
For many years, we ve seen an increase in clean, muted palettes for home interiors. But this year, we see layered neutral color palettes taking center stage. Warm greige or white walls make the perfect backdrop for neutral wall art, while furnishings in muted blues and purples add a hint of color for a look that is both elegant and inviting.
AN UNEXPECTED POP
We couldn t help to notice the use of indigo, navy, and cobalt blue at Market as well. Playing perfectly with the aforementioned neutral tones, indigo made its appearance on everything from throw pillows to accent pieces. We even saw this color used as a wall color, creating an interesting compliment to framed wall art.
While sleek angular furniture still has its place in today s design landscape, we noticed many furniture designers playing with more organic forms and curvy silhouettes. From rounded sectionals to ornate wing chairs, the curvaceous lines were a clever compliment to more modern design.
A MIX OF TEXTURES
From fur and natural wood, to acrylic and shiny metals, there was no shortage of mixed materials at Market. A few of our favorite designs include a pair slipper chairs upholstered in a rich brown fur with a weathered wood frame, a black marble cocktail table with shiny gold legs, and a white, gold, and acrylic bed frame.
TONE ON TONE
We often see bold patterns in upholstery, but a new trend had us doing a double take. Patterns using hues within the same family made for a surprising, yet subtle look. This trend offers the fun and interest of patterns and the monochromatic simplicity of layered neutrals.
We love coastal! This spring, Market was filled with exciting new pieces, patterns, and more for coastal interiors. Here are some of our favorites!
