Create a Cozy (and Organized) Kitchen with Rustic Appeal

As the New Year begins, many of us resolve to create a more organized  home – why not start in the kitchen? As the natural hub of your house, the kitchen serves as an even more important center when the temperatures cool and the social calendar heats up. The kitchen is the soul of the home where meals are prepared and folks gather frequently. A cozy, casual kitchen is the perfect spot to start your day while fueling up on breakfast and making plans; it can also be the ideal place to reconnect with family at the end of a hectic day. A kitchen island or even rustic open shelving can provide clever storage options while neatly housing extra dinnerware, glassware, and table linens. It also makes a great showcase for often basic – but never boring staples. Try incorporating handcrafted tableware accents to add a dash of color. Pictured left and below, pieces from the Vanguard and Solitude Bay collections feature updated cottage styling with a rustic industrial twist and imbue relaxed, comfortable elegance that puts everyone as ease. Note the interesting application of zinc used throughout which adds a naturally beautiful finish.

Casual storage solutions from Solitude Bay: (left) Baker’s rack features two sliding doors at the bottom with an adjustable shelf behind doors and three adjustable shelves at the top. “Outside In” china (center) features four drawers and a pull-out galvanized metal countertop with zinc finish while the portable wine cabinet (bottom left) stores wine bottles and glasses efficiently without taking up too much space. The Cobblestone wine hutch and buffet (bottom right) provides wine glass storage, a granite top, three storage drawers plus wine bottle storage and sliding doors below.
