Oskar R. Huber 1933-2011

Our father, Oskar R. Huber, passed away Thursday, December 15th after a short illness. We will be closing the stores on Tuesday, Dec. 20th in his honor.

Dad was very active in his day, not only with managing the family business but also with his many outside interests and concerns. He was known for his generosity, kindness, & faith … and he had a warm, easygoing, and sometimes flamboyant personality … he drew people to him and loved to share a laugh.  

He was born October 15th, 1933 and married Doris when he was 23. Oskar & Doris were married 54 years and have 4 sons: Oskar R. (Meg), Ronald W. (Bell), Donald C. (Linda) , Glenn G. (Helen) as well as 20 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. He is survived also by siblings Emma Hafner, Harry Huber & Beth Patton.

The furniture business continues to be run by his sons as well as some of the fourth generation of the Huber Family.

Dad’s interests and organizations for which he served:
· Past President of Oskar Huber Furniture, grew the business to 3 stores
· Past Member, Board of Managers of Masonic Home of Lafayette Hill
· President of the Masonic Home Board from 1983 to 1991
· Past Potentate – LuLu Temple Shrine, Life Member LuLu Temple Shrine
· Life Member, US Naval Academy Association
· Life Member, Joseph H. Brown Lodge F&AM #751
· Former Director, Cheltenham Federal Savings & Loan
· Past Chairman of the Board - Prime Savings Bank
· Vice Chairman of Board of Governors, 1986 through 1991, Shriners Hospital Phila. Unit
· Former President, Masonic Veterans of Pennsylvania
· Chaplain, Imperial Shrine 1991-92

Memorial Service will be Tuesday 12/20/11
St. John’s United Methodist Church
820 Almshouse Road
Ivyland, PA 18974

Visitation 9:00 – 10:30
Service starts 10:30

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers donations are requested for: Abington Hospice at Warminster, 225 Newtown Rd. Warminster 18974 or Shriners Hospital/Philadelphia Unit 3551 N Broad St. Phila. 19140.
